Uh, um, I got a um, idea again (happens onast idea (clear acrylic paint on stee
l tanks to see rust)

Anyway, I have done a considerable amount of decompression diving in the Lakes
that didn't need very aggressive decompression. So I carried air down and used
a big pony for deco and bailout if required. The mix was usually 36-40%. At
the time, I didn't want to spend money on O2 cleaning my reg. that I used
for the pony and other non-clean gasses. I would usually deco with an
air computer--a relatively simply setup that I could get by with on
commercial charters and do some deco. They tend to twitch like PADI
lawyers when they see O2 or Nitrox going down with you (I'd turn the
pony's Nitrox sticker in towards the main tank or down when in storage.

I occurs to me that since some of us have enough tanks to load a freight
train, that we should carry a pony or some tank as a travel bottle filled
with NOAA1 or 2 or 40% on a more regular basis. This would allow for
extra gas for bailout and some accelerated off gassing and increased
safety for stops in high seas. Keep in mind that O2 toxicity is a
function of time too. If the gear configuration can stand a slender tank
on the side or back with a second stage on it, not your chest, you have a
relatively inoffensive Nitrox source you reach for when you need. Note a
lot of Al 40s are being distributed around here. They are a nice size for
O2 and a pony such as above.

Do any of you use much Nitrox as a travel gas or for the purposes I
mentioned above? What about the "to manifold" or "not to manifold" issue.
Are people just not interested in responding to the issue? Have you all
made up your minds and don

Jason you're welcome. I learned a couple of things too, I
to sappy with the courtesies I've sent out.

For the new people and the stubborn old ones, PLEASE put your address on
the message so that I and others can send you replies. I often get
opinions/requests that say to me from techdiver@opal.com with no other
mailer info. :-( The new guy sent me a message with absolutely no
identification to who he is: no name address or nothing! I have a poor
old mainframe Email and gateway that conveniently strips the mail info
away. I also don't have any control over sending my "urgent" notes for
those who are or will be irritated by that. Sorry, but when you got
urgent mainframe needs, I'd suggest they're going to come first. :-)

On advertisement, it does become a problem when people pay for there
messages or disk space. I noticed a *long* advertisement that I got
billed disk space for. Put them somewhere where I can get them if I want
them. The guys should develop their own list server or something.
