From: ddrake01 <start> If a diver plans the pony for use during deco and the pony fails in some way, then there probably won't be enough gas left in the main cylinder to carry the diver. I think the best use of a pony in the scenario you describe is for emergency purposes only. Decompression diving is no different than any other type of overhead environment, i.e. if you can't make a direct, continous ascent to the surface then at least one level of redundancy is required on all critical components. Win Remley <stop insert> Per my other posts on redundacy, I agree to the above statement regarding failures. The dive plans would allow for enough air to deal with deco in the event of a loss of the pony and enough pony volume to deal with a main tank loss. Please keep in mind the use of 30-40 (not 13) cubic feet pony bottles. Two failures would be a cold dark death or a rocket ride up assuming I couldn't get my buddy. I was a little slack in fleshing out my dive plan on the post--a bit tired of typing. What I find nice about the big ponies is that they are slender and therefore more versatile in placement. I could take an 80 or 72 down, but that would mean more weight and bulk and $ for fills, etc. Often I only need a 30-40 for the less agressive dives.I realize that the dives I made where a pony would get me out of trouble are fairly limited, but I thought that it might just make a difference and give good bang for the buck IMHO (a mix that can be used at a variety of depths in the event of either bottom mix or deco mix loss ). [] Again with the ads, I have a problem paying for anyone advertising at my cost. If I want the information I let you know.As a cost of market, you pay for mail charges, not me the prospective customer. I signed up for discussion of technical issues . Notice the period. A business must pay to stuff/staple copy flyers, newsletters, etc. I'll pay for it when I buy your product. Irritating me with ads at my cost that I don't want will not further your business interest with me. A simple post that there is a new product and info available WOULD be appreciated. Give me a phone #, address, etc. Ever wonder why 1-800 #s are so popular? Fill my inbox with what I perceive to be garbage, and I'll tolerate for a while, then relatiate. 'nough said, I want to go diving. DAVID DRAKE AHDNN1A.DDRAKE01@ED*.CO* ROMULUS, MICHIGAN EDS/GM POWERTRAIN 8-375-5467 (GM NET)
