Sorry to be so delinquent in getting back to Jason and the rest of you. I've
been delayed in going thru my Easter backlog of mail, on vacation.

Regarding use of separate tanks, okay if you limit your turn point to a high
enough pressure with separate/redundant tanks, you have your safety margin.
However, to carry the least amount of tanks on a dive, I would think dual
outlet valves, either manifold or H/Y valves will give you an added advantage
of using whatever is left in the tank that had a failure. Since H/Y valves
require two regs/cyl.-thus more points of failure, I would pick the manifold
when I need two big main cylinders. What do the rest of you think? Are the
Americans $old on giving the dive shops $ for no Safety benefit?

Practice should make perfect when shutting down valves. You should be able to
turn a failed regulartor off very fast. Someone said imagine a hose going, well
image the dental work required when the second stage blew off the hose while
in your mouth...it's happened-bad crimp on the hose fitting. You won't want it
beating you in the face for a minute or however long it takes to empty the tank

Which brings me to my only suggestions to Jasonn's setup. Use the sausage and
become proficient with its deployment. A recreation friend of mine found him-
self blown off and in very deep ocean with only a whistle. Even in the
Great Lakes, we have current at the straits and near the surface from wind.

Also, make sure the mask and sausage are not deteriorating in their pockets.
Is the seal still good on the mask? How 'bout the seams on the sausage. If
so check them every couple of months or more if they get rubbed/hit or abused.
I did not thoroughly go thru the setup as I'm short on time and not immediately
alarmed. You might consider an Argon pony or other pony used for inflation and
/or bailout. Always have a hose from another reg for your drysuit. If you have
to deflate while going up in a cave, wreck, mine, etc., then you just might
be a hurtin' if you must go deeper w/o inflation...it has happened to me, nice
bruising patterns. Lots of fun.

P.S. A friend of mine requested if anyone knew of percentages of people using
manifolds/independents and those who would use manifolds/H or Y valves if they
had the $ or quid or DM or clams or peanuts or whatever. Anybody aware of any
studies?
