If you try the system you will find it works and why it all works- then you will see why they suggest diving that way. Just to give you an analogy - when you learnt to drive did you question the reason to change from 1 to 2 and not 1 to 5? The reasoning with DIR is similar but subtler, since we are adapted for living on land and cannot immediately and intuitively see the best solution for underwater. I have met several GUE instructors and none of them are in your face and take the time to explain. In fact did you ever see a GUE instructor flaming somebody or being aggressive online? You will find after doing a course you come away as a better diver. I just did DIR-F and I am an IANTD instructor and one of my class mates is a IANTD ITT we both came away having learnt allot and I can honestly say that I have never had that feeling with any other diving course I have done.
