Does it strike anyone > else here that there is alot more to this than just safety (conspirisy > theory of the day) > Cheers Jason :) Jason, if you don't understand the difference between obtaining life support gasses from an outlet certified to deliver them and somebody with a small but dangerous amount of knowledge "brewing their own" then there is no point in anyone on this list trying to explain it to you. If you are qualified, as you keep intimating, to do this, I suggest you stop encouraging people who are not qualified to place themselves at risk. Happy diving Martin Hi Martin, The point I was trying to make is that these "certified" outlets are only certified by some private organisation. I could just as easily start my own private organisation and "certifiy" myself to mix gas. The methods used to mix gas by the "certified" outlets here are *exactly* the same as those used by home brewers. Real goverenment certified labs, such as those maintained by BOC, use quite different equipment and techniques. The term "certified" as used by these private organisations is misleading in that it tends to make the uninformed user think that the "certified diving mixture" that they get is infact real "certified diving mixture" when infact it is home brew made in a shop. (shop brew?) Gas analysis for real "certified diving mix" costs about $50 per cylinder and is far more involved than simply flowing it across a couple of miniox's. Do you disagree with me on this point? Cheers Jason :) PS I probably phrased my earlier post rather badly. I strongly encourage everyone to avoid all risk! PPS I'm not "qualified" in any respect by any private scuba organisation with the exception of a FAUI SCUBA Diver (entry level cert), a PADI resuce diver, and a CDAA Sinkhole diver. I repeat, I have no Nitrox, Tri- mix or tech certificates from any private tech diving orgainisation.
