Subject: Drysuit inflator bruises chest. Suggestions?

Folks -

I'm about to glue some 7mm neoprene to the inside surface of my inflator
valve to stop the bruising it's causing on my sternum.  Before I do,
does anyone know if this is a bad idea, or have an alternative that works
better?
