The problem with that statement isn't that it's wrong. The problem is that people then use it to come up with all kinds of idiotic ways of diving. Sure, there may be another safe way to dive. However, DIR is a proven concept, lots of people use it, and it works beautifully. I don't think you can say that about any other system out there....if indeed there is something else you could call a system. Most of it is just "personal preference" and all that, and yes, while there may be one guy in Finnland, and 3 guys in Texas who have a way of diving that is equally safe, it's not the same as having a well documented, well discussed, proven concept that everyone can easily adhere to. BTW, before anybody accuses me of being religious... Religion is based on faith, i.e., by definition, you don't question anything. Just ask Trey how many things I've questioned, he probably gets a headache just thinking about it. DIR makes sense, no faith necessary, just logic.
