Jim, Just replace that with getting a floating ball to the line ( if anchored) and be ready to move. In how many minutes ? Yes. Time counts. You know the survival interval. I just lost a friend on July 13th. She was an experienced diver, reasonably fit in my view, diving throughout seasons, age 43. She did not make it to the downline, though she at first gave an OK sign; when her buddy noticed a problem ( looking like complete exhaustion) he started rescue attempts. Unluckily, there was a high ladder, an the Zodiac had not been launched into the water. If it had been, it would have provided a platform where she had been able to be recovered earlier, compared to the efforts getting her up the ladder. CPR could have started earlier. Transfer up to the boat would have been easier. Further rescue attempts ( SAR boat) were futile. She died of a fateful heart attack. Nothing diving related at first glance. Water temp 18-19°C. Wonder if one of hese highly ( DAN) praised DIY defibrillators would have helped anything. Matthias -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
