Let's face it Scott, every single diver I know "knows" a SEAL. Yes I have great respect for Navy SEALs and think they can kick the ass of anyone we put them up against in their special theatre of operations given proper leadership. That SEAL that was left behind by the helo sounds like a Class A-1 Charley Foxtrot to me and I am hoping that this war will flush out the incompetents, brown-nosers and Clinton appointees who were responsible for this man's death. I have not heard any reports of Tysall himself spouting that he's an ex-SEAL, only the deep air morons he seems to surround himself with saying so. As I said, everybody knows a SEAL. When Tysall was here all he did was talk about wreck diving and showed us some cool photos, nothing about SEALs. Now if he is going beyond his resume and actually telling people he was a SEAL, I will agree with you and will call him a lying scumbag as well. It is a pity that Tysall is behind the curve on modern diving theory and practice. We really need to get people like Tysall on the DIR bandwagon, he would have the influence to get through some of the more thick-headed Doing It Wrong types and impressionable newbies. Also I would like to point out that the Navy has different kinds of divers. You have your basic barnacle-scraper, bung-knocker Seabee types (like the guys doing the Monitor) then you have your demolition and mine clearing types (UDT) then you have your special operations hunters and killers (SEALs). Yes 500' dives are insanity and so were Mt. Everest trips before they became commercialized. I suppose "because it's there" can apply to scuba diving as well as mountain climbing.
