Look, moron, all you care about is your little dry caving weenie =
helmet. You let all else that makes any sense go by the wayside for that =
precious little helmet. That makes you a total idiot, just like every =
other stroke who sees only one facet and lets all else go in order to =
satisfy that obsession. You not only know NOTHING about cave diving, you =
just don't get the importance of doing things in a cohesive and =
consistent fashion.=20

Hm, a lucid argument, just what I like...
Hi Jeff. Scoffs caving and diving partner (not buddy) here.

The most important aspect of the dive light is the signaling =
capability. You don't get that, and in fact you spend a great deal of =
argument telling how helmeted lights somehow work. They do not. They do =
not in dry cave, they do not underwater.

And here was me thinking that in a dark cave a light's primary =
function was to provide LIGHT !
A bit of lateral thinking is obviously needed...how many bits of dive =
gear do we use inappropriately ?
...hey, here's an idea, get rid of those heavy lights and carry a =
couple of flags so you can send semaphore signals...or even better- take =
a CB radio ! I was thinking of getting one of these HID lights things, =
but I don't suppose that the superior lighting is necessary, I'll just =
get a flash gun...one flash for yes, two for no etc etc.
Wow, I'm getting the hang of this DIR stuff now.
On the same lines, maybe a drysuit is not really for keeping warm and =
bouyant, maybe it's real function is to keep the mosquitos off you while =
putting your tanks on...so ditch those expensive suits boys, and make =
your own out of lace curtains ! (DEET impregnated for bad areas)
The possibilities are endless...paper tanks that are just perfect for =
keeping the sun off your back in the cave, depth gauges that are really =
sundials to tell the time with...I'm really cooking now !

Your arguments are worst than the Brits. At least they admit they =
don't give a flying fuck about buddies or anyone else.

It's not that we don't care about buddies, buddy, it's just that a/ =
it's hard enough getting one set of gear to most sumps, let alone two, =
and b/ in most of our sumps you wouldn't be able to see your buddy in =
the crappy vis, and usually the sumps are a bit small to do anything =
even if you could !
My fault for being a stroke, living in this silly little island when I =
should really sell up and move to Florida and join the WKPP (I am not =
worthy) (Go on George, it's on a plate for you there!)

Helmets have no place in cave diving.

In Florida, perhaps, but try that sort of rubbish here and you'll end =
up with a very sore head. If you've ever had to use your head to knock =
roof projections out of the way in flat out passage, you'd know what I =
mean !
As to dry caving, guess you must have some pretty easy caves over =
there (or George can only do easy caves) because last weekend I spent 9 =
hours surveying some desperate new passage we've just explored (dry) =
where at one point you can't turn your feet over. Afterwards, the only =
bit of me not bruised was...my (helmet protected)head. And if I hadn't =
had both hands free, I'd still be there.
So George, whilst you certainly know lots about helium diving and =
lot's of other tekkie stuff, don't presume to lecture me about UK cave =
diving (of which you have no knowledge) and dry caving (ditto)

The real shame is that the DIR folks have obviously contributed hugely =
to deep and long duration spring diving, but the loudmouth, insulting =
attitude of their 'leader' has made them into a laughing stock all over =
the place.
George- chill out mate, smile, be happy.
  Is DIR/WKPP a democracy ?
  Get a life !=20

Sorry, going caving now, look forward to reading the usual =
intelligent, helpful reply we all expect from GI.

  BTW.
Enjoyed hugely the DIR video someone gave me. George doing (2) pull =
ups, and 20yard runs in shorts...I'm inspired. Nice hair (in a seventies =
sort of way), gut a bit flabby)=20
Guess you need to be fit to lug all that gear fast enough not to get =
eaten by alligators. Or maybe you have adoring sherpas to help out ?
Must admit though, whizzing along all that crystal clear passage on a =
scooter looks real good fun ! Shame about the MOR rock music that seems =
to be present in most Florida springs, a form of pollution we don't =
(thankfully) get over here. Such a shame I could never aspire to such =
heights (depths?)

Hey, those sexy Gavin scooters must be really good salad tossers, =
wonder why they take them diving ?
Maybe they're for signalling with, lettuce for yes, tomatoes for no ??

  Jeff-=20
disler spikes, we use em here too (think you've mailed with Scoff over =
this) but I think I know what they're really for...bend over George !=20
  ;-)
