--=====================_5549382==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed It appears by the private email that I might have been misunderstood in a previous posting. Yesterday, I posted the following: "Well, in a fucked up kind of way, I agree. But wouldn't it be a whole lot more hypocritical to sell a stroke "stroke" gear. Up until a couple weeks ago, I ran a dive shop in Atlanta. I sold tons of bullshit stroke gear to folks. If you got to sell something to somebody to pay the bills it would probably be better to sell them gear oriented toward the DIR philosophy as opposed to some of that shit I sold. My point being, folks have got to sell stuff to pay the bills. You going to make my house payment while I sit on my ass and be a purist? Better to sell DIR stuff to strokes than stroke shit to strokes. Make any sense?????" This was in response to somebody saying selling "DIR gear" to strokes was hypocritical. And me not being a purist when I sold stuff. Just for the record, I NEVER mentioned my diving. Although, from a business standpoint running a dive shop as I did, I had very little problem selling the customer whatever convoluted POS they wanted to keep the bills paid, that has NOTHING to do with my diving. Apparently some folks took it to mean that. But to set the record straight, If I or my buddy (John Nelson) cannot do the dive correctly (ie DIR) we DON'T DO THE DIVE. I (we) don't modify our philosophy to fit the circumstance. Diving is not required to exist - paying bills is required. Those of you who said in private emails that you must modify for circumstances were ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT. If it cannot be done right - DON'T DO IT. And I DON''T! So, those who were agreeing with my quote above and apply it to diving need to RETHINK their position.
