Just hope that the current system of signed waivers continues to stand up in court. > Secondly, it was an illustration of how someone's stupidity is not just > restricted to them but affects us all. Why should you expect them to. If it really bothers you find another company. Diving is a hazardous sport, especially below 130 ft. It is simply a business decision to them and is in the best interest of their other non diving policy holders to not take the risk. > Why? because > idiots keep killing themselves in ways that draws media attention. Actuaries could care less about media attention. They are just looking for factors that will allow them to differentiate between risk classes so they can price the policies accordingly. I'm sure a lot of actuaries don't smoke but that doesn't stop them looking at the smoking data and realizing that smokers have to pay higher rates because their chances of dying are greater. > If we > can't get people who dive to figure out what works and what doesn't how do > you expect non-diving actuarys to have a clue? What makes you think that actuaries don't dive. I know several underwriters that do. Eric -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
