Ric, I think you are missing the point. These radicals HATE our society. They think we are the devil. Nothing we can do short of becoming Islamic fundamentalist radicals will end their hate and disdain for us. Have you ever dealt with any of the countries over there? I have, and their societies are NOTHING even remotely close to ours. Getting away with something is when no action is taken. If you do not think that massive destruction does not change behaviors, you are simply wrong. The hate may not go away, but the actions will cease. Do you recall Colonel Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi and his threats? We lobbed a few missiles in Libya over 10 years ago and we have not heard a peep out of him in quite a while. Did you forget the "Mother of All Wars"? What about the hundreds of Saddam Hussein's army that gave up to a small number of our troops? Why did they do that if they were not afraid of death? Over 90% of the people in the US think we ought to bomb the hell out of Afghanistan. I guess 90% of us are wrong. And what "new methods" do you think will work? You seem to think that talking to these people will solve issues, but do not understand that the real issues cannot be solved. The only way to solve these types of disagreements is by eliminating the other party or as many as it takes until they get the message. I am not suggesting the threat of punishment, but a guaranteed response. And they should know that our response will be much, much worse than they will want to deal with. Patrick Duffy The world is getting smaller and these things will continue. Ric wrote: > I'm as shocked and pissed as anyone. > > But, you're missing the point.
