Terry, Most divers would benefit from additional training. Don't forget it is your head you want to get somewhere. Between head and buttocks are some spine and belly muscles which have to be trained to, to benefit from the better endurance and power from the leg and buttock muscles . Imagine a high power speedboat with soft and weak hull segments. In competion fin swimming training we do great efforts to strengthen the body muscles ( belly , back, shoulders) and to straighten the spine as much as can be, especially the angle between spine and arms pinting forward. The arms waterresistance, in a vertical plane, this way act as a counterbalancing force for the leg stroke. Same applies to a diver, but in diving you normally do not hold the arms in front. ecxept when finning speed7 low drag is of a prime importance. All exercise is good but this one in particular works nicely in preparation to diving offshore from a beach for example. Of course technique plays an important roll as well. > > -----Original Message----- > From: LouisianaLegal@ao*.co* > To: OEA51@go*.co* > Cc: techdiver@aquanaut.com > Date: Thu Jul 26 09:30:03 PDT 2001 > Subject: Re: cardio routine > > >In a message dated 7/25/2001 8:24:58 PM Pacific Daylight Time, OEA51@go*.co* > >writes: > > > > > >> I've been adding 15-20 mins of seated bicycle over the last three months to > >> my cardio routine > > > >Nothing takes the place of working out and diving often.
