I've been adding 15-20 mins of seated bicycle over the last three months to my cardio routine; this specific exercise is one of the best I've found to prepare for swimming against a current or rip with scuba at the surface. Of course there is technique involved as well. But Ive personally noticed many divers getting blown the fu*k away at the surface before the dive even gets started. Being all pooped out at the start of a dive puts all kinds of variables into the dive (both physiological and logistical) that more often are not part of the dive plan in my most humble opinion.
