Matthias,
You are right on the mark.  On this side of the pond, soft drink
companies use nice compact canisters that hold 5 US gallons, are about
the same size as a scuba tank, and sell used for about $25US.  I have a
couple that I use in beer brewing.  The whole setup except for
compressed air source would run about $100 or less.  The place to get
everything you need except for the shower head in North America is your
local beer homebrewing shop.  Canada actually is better equipped for
this because of the fact that their government made beer so "f-ing"
expensive that everyone who can is homebrewing now.
