First of all it is Irvine, not Irving , and secondly, the number of deaths on these things clearly steers most people away, and unless they have a real good reason to dive one, and I don't know too many people who do, the answers are obvious. Of course if the agency for teaching the things other than the one I have ( I have banned Mouth and IANTD from teaching my rebreather ) were not run by the dumbest fuck in diving, somebody might be realizing that all of the deaths were either a case of no buddy, or a case of a complete stroke as a buddy ( the Weinberg killing ). In any event, the big lure is the "higher order teckie certification" for the pinky dicks out there, and then there is the added macho bonus of "it won't happen to me" to keep the moths coming to the flame. -----Original Message----- From: Depth Charge [mailto:dpthchrg@ca*.ne*] Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2001 5:16 PM To: techdiver@aquanaut.com Subject: Re: This is inspiration diving and people are supposed to die List, I see that a number of people on this list have a decidedly negative impression of rebreathers. I am new to the list and, I was just wondering how many are talking from first hand knowledge? How many people have actually dove any type of rebreather? The only ones that I know of for sure are Mr. Irving and Mr. Jablonski, are there others? And of these, how many have had negative experiences with them?
