We put helium in everything we dive. It's much more fun that way. You know what is really weird? You can see colors better when you are breathing helium. I have no idea why. Bill Mee and I were doing shallow reef dives on helium and I was amazed at the intricate colors of some of the invertebrates we were checking out which I had never noticed on air. We were testing rebreathers so were spending hours on the reefs and so we looked at everything . I later noticed the same thing at 100 feet on another dive. Also, you will find that it is a hell of a lot easier to decompress from or with any helium based gas. -----Original Message----- From: Manos Manoli [mailto:cytech@ma*.co*.cy*] Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2001 11:09 AM To: Tech Diver Subject: 33m Narcosis Something i got it sorted , and i want to share !! Ok last month i dive a wreck on 65m for 35minutes. I used Trimix 18/40 , nitrox 36 , and O2 on 6m. After a deep stop on 45m i moved on to33m where i switched to ean36. Although 33m doesn't sound much as a narcotic depth after 2 breaths my head started to spin like hell. I felt like being in a barrel rolling down a slope...i switched back to my bottom mix and stayed there for a while. , i stayed a bit more and i switch again on my deco mix at 27m the barel stoped !. I have learned my lesson...... I have a friend who works in a lab , i had him checking my deco gas... levels of Co2 where acceptable.. Trey suggested to add a bit of He on my deco mix and i did on the next similar dive i was fine. I wonder what caused so much narcosis at such a depth ? Could it be that i was tired all day long on board searching for that wreck ? So here im from now on i will switch on trimix 36/20 or better ill stay a bit more to my bottom mix and switch to 50/50 on 22m..
