Hi "SS"- No, the artifacts will not "rot in a box in a basement." They are currently being conserved and will be documented in an upcoming book and on our webpage. Pictures will also be sent to the German shipping company for their archives. As the wreck is not historically significant, I can't imagine a museum accepting the artifacts regardless whether or not the individual who recovered the bell would be willing to donate it. I am not going to get into a debate over artifact collection.
