I've used some "tool dip" on my reel and anchor line. It comes in different colors, so you can easily use any system you like to measure distance. On my reel, I can tell by how much reel is left to take up, but the first 50 feet I have a black mark every 5 ft. This allows me to measure visibility fairly accurately, just count the black marks you can see. If I can see 4, it's a good day :-) terry michael wrote: ~ >duct tape >-----Original Message----- >From: "Don Burke"<donburke56@ne*.ne*> >To: techdiver@aquanaut.com >Date: Sun May 20 15:11:09 PDT 2001 >Subject: rockin' & reelin' > >>Is there a better way to mark off distances on a reel line? >> >>I've been using knots and it seems there must be a better way to figure out > >how far off my tie-off I am at any given time. > > -- Paul B. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
