Jim,

That's working _way_ too hard.

A 2x4 5 feet long less the short dimension (actually about 4' 10.25") will
do the same thing and is a whole lot easier to store.

In any case, a great concept and I'll cut one tomorrow.

Combining this with the ideas I've been getting off list, I'll mark the
first 50 ft with magic marker every 10 ft and knots at each 50 ft point for
my main reel.  For the backup reel, coded knots every 10 feet to about 20 ft
beyond the deepest possible deco stop.
