The motto of the American pathologist society roughly translates to "Let the dead teach us so we can live." There are some who die because they refuse to learn simple lessons. There are others whose death is purely tragic. Accident analysis requires a mixture of respect for those who died and especially for those they left behind. However, if studying their death helps others to live, then they have not died in vain. I didn't know Steve, but people for whom I have the greatest respect did. That they are going to be at his memorial tomorrow says enough for me. There is no death from which we cannot learn. To laugh or mock (or even worse, ignore) simply moves us toward the head of the line for the next to die. Wendell Grogan -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
