I have the OMS and I have a DIR syle harness. There is no advantage
to the OMS at all. If you have an OMS harness, just take it off and
use the instructions on the wkpp site to make a DIR harness. It's
pretty easy. Or you can buy one from EE. The only difficulty will
be the crotch strap. If you go with a 1 inch strap you can make a
DIR style one and install it without any hassles, otherwise you have
3 options:

1) alter the plate to widen the slot to 2"
2) use a bolt and washers to hold the strap to the 1" slot (I've done
this and it works)
3) fold the strap and pass it through the 1" slot. (this is on my
list. apparently it requires pliers, wetting, possibly fabric
softener, and a dictionary of curse words to get it through.)

Cheers.

PS. Some might say that it's nice to have a quick release on the
crotch strap. This is also not an advantage. With the quick
release, part of the strap needs be on the belt side (the part with
the loop and the female half of the buckle). This makes the other
part of the crotch strap shorter, by quite a bit. Now when you try
to find it while suiting up, you need to reach much further back, and
it's generally harder to locate. When you take the rig off, a DIR
rig will allow you to simply undo the buckle and slide it out of the
other part of the waist strap and the crotch strap in one motion.
The OMS style requires the additional step of opening a quick
release. Unnecessary convolutions, added failure points, why bother?
