John,
I have two reasons for recommending the lower over relief pressure setting.

1) Some inflation valves spring will open (inflate) at 185-190 psi. A free
flow that results in an open inflator can result in an uncontrolled ascent due
to the rapid buoyancy change. I don't see this as a problem with an
experienced diver (they should be able to handle this type of situation),
however, I make my general recommendations with the least experienced divers
in mind.

2) I tend to worry about the quality and longevity of some of the plastic
inflator valves used today. With extended UV degradation t I feel the valve
will have a greater potential for catastrophic failure at higher set
pressures.

A 200 psi set point is probably safe 99.99% of the time. I tend to worry about
that other 0.01%.

Curt,

Since most first stages run at between 130 and 170 psi, and most lp
hoses have a working pressure of 200 psi, I tend to set the overpressure
relief valve at 200 psi. This works well with any of my first stages,
and I have had no problems with my drysuit inflator valve at pressures
up to 200 psi.

This, at least to me, seems like the best all around setting for
the overpressure relief valve.

Any comments????
