The first stage of the argon regulator should have an overpressure relief
valve. If the first stage freezes or other wise fails open either the
inflator hose or the suit inflation valve will rupture. A hose rupture may
not be a major problem however a ruture and therefore leaking inflator valve
could produce a life threatening situation (hypothermia). Set the
overpressure relief valve for about 5 psi over the intermediate pressure of
the first stage.

It is also a good idea to have a backup inflator hose from one of your primary
regulators available in case the argon system fails. Connect the argon hose
and the backup together with bungee cord to facilitate locating the backup if
you need to switch.

I prefer mounting the tank where it is very easy to reach and turn off. I'm
currently using 13 &15 cu ft ponys. I mount them to my back plate with the
valve down. This makes the valve very easy to reach and the bootle does not
increase your profile in the water. This helps with the size of restriction
you can penetrate. This mounting location also allows you to use a 10-12 inch
inflator hose.

Bootles can be filled by bleeding down a large argon tank, pumping argon
through an air compressor, or filling through a haskel. If you are using a
haskel (O2) for filling you should filter the argon before it inters the
haskel since standard argon is not very clean.

If you are using bottles that can accept a scuba regulator you make sure they
are clearly identified as argon and keep a tight control on access to them to
limit the potential for accidents.

I made my own argon/air dry suit inflator system from a pony bottle, old
first stage, and hose. Cost for the total system was less than $200.00

     Hi Harold

A few questions on your home made argon system:

_Do you use an overpressure relief valve on your argon first stage?
-Is the pony bottle equiped with a CGA580 argon valve or a scuba post?
-If it has a standard scuba post, then how do you get it filled with
     argon?
