With summer coming, people will probably be getting new ones, this means old ones in the trash. If you use a 2" angle iron, you'll end up with a 7 lb. Weight. All I did was get an old 15 lb. Scuba weight, cut it in quarters and put 2 pieces in. Completely filled the weight, only a very little dripped over the edges. Another idea is to line the angle iron with aluminum foil. I did it cause I was in a hurry when I welded it up and there was a lot of slag and I didn't want it to get stuck in the mold. Hope this helps, Art. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Tibble [mailto:chris.tibble@bt*.co*] Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2001 4:13 PM To: techdiver@aquanaut.com Subject: Making 'V' Weights I want to make a 'V' weight in preparation for my new twinset, which I'm ordering soon. I have the lead weights, and I can make a mould no problem, but I want to know how best to (safely) melt the lead down. Any ideas about heat source and suitable container for molten lead? Protective gear? Chris -- To reply remove 'Nospam' from address. It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
