However, the DIN fitting is used by many technical divers because of the greater security due to the captive O ring. The DIN fitting is becoming more popular, especially with the introduction of 300 bar cylinders, where the DIN fitting must be used. All my regulators have 300 bar DIN fittings and I have had no Major problems. But I have two minor problems. 1) I need to carry an A clamp adaptor when hiring cylinders. In my experiance, it is virtually impossible to remove the screw out adaptor from hired cylinders with combined DIN/A clamp pillar valves. 2) Sometimes the DIN fitting can be difficult to remove. Why don't all manufacturers fit a large, ribbed rubber collar to the DIN fitting. This would allow you to get a firm grip and exert some leverage. Oceanic are the worst offender. The knurling seems to be more cosmetic than usefull. Posidon are better. I allways carry a spare fin strap. When stuck, I wrap it around the DIN fitting to give me more grip.
