Decompression timed to the second is overkill on the order of threading a needle with a sledgehammer. You *do not* need to do this to effectively decompress. All the models are just educated guesses to start with anyway. Did your instructor suggest that timing deco to the second was necessary? If so, I'd question everything else he taught you.
