My drysuit is not DIR, but the way the pocket is velcroed solves that problem. The flap has velcro on both corners, but in the middle there is a section without velcro. This makes it very easy to open, just hook your finger in the middle and pull. If your pocket already has velcro all the way accross, you could take a spare piece of velcro and mate it to the middle of the flap, to disable that part of the velcro.
