George, Thank you for the clarification; DIR is what I'm trying to learn and use. As you said, it's a unified system which easily applies to all types of diving -- for cold water wrecks, only a liftbag needs to be added and a heavier-line reel to use with mitts. It is a much better system than what I used to do. I realize DIR is equally about diver attitude, team ethics and discipline, which are crucial to safe diving. The Techdiver and Cavers Lists are valuable resources for anyone with an open mind.
