Upside-down on the left side and as low as possible to keep them
in the slipstream of the doubles to reduce drag.  It has to be in
a position where you can reach the valve and remove the bottle
completely if necessary.

Some may argue that placing a pony that way should be OK since it's OK
for an argon bottle.  The problem with that logic is that argon bottles
are different from ponies; they're smaller (too small to be very useful
for breathing) and they're *necessary* in cold/long dives, which ponies
are not.
