Unfortunalty, Ian, this is an industry which has to cater to the lowest =
common denominator. Espcially in tourist areas where the divers =
commitment to the sport amounts to 2 dives per year. This is a real pain =
to divers trying to do it right. The blame for this can directly be put =
on the rec training agencies who's goal is to turn out C-cards above all =
else. This is why is is so scary to see PADI and NAUI starting up tech =
programs.

When I said industry-wide ban, what I was referring to is for dive =
training agencies to stop teaching people that using nitrox with PPO2 of =
1.5 to 1.6 is a dandy way to avoid decompression. There is a better ways =
of extending your bottom time which, IMHO, are safer and have less =
potential for screwups.

Yes, my opinion on the PPO2 limit is completely uninforceabl

As for Jim's suggestion on an industry-wide ban on PO2s over 1.2. So you
advocate regulation of an area of diving in which you're not involved
because you think its a little bit dangerous. Lets see, what other areas =
of
diving can we see that are a little bit dangerous - maybe going inside
wrecks, people die doing that - sounds like we need an industry wide ban
there too. Cave diving ......
