While I agree the theory in the text should be in the context of appropriate training, such training is unlikely to be available or wide spread in my neck of the woods any time soon (certainly not at the rec diving level). All the local shops are SSI or PADI. What's the deal with NAUI and DIR? I know over ten years ago a NAUI instructor taught me to breath and donate the long(er) hose and minimise snags on my gear.
