Alan, I repeatedly said that I am no fan of Gilliams. He has repeatedly given the sport a black eye. I also do not condone deep air and currently never dive deep air myself. I said that repeatedly too. I simply pointed out that the reason helium/trimix is lacking in Chuuk is because of the long logistical chain and expense, not because of some conspiracy on Gilliam's part. The great majority of diver's visiting Truk Lagoon are sport divers. The best wrecks are in 60-feet of water,.ie. the "Fujikawa. It is simply not worth it to the charter operators to go to that much trouble to bring in helium. I also said if you wanted to go to the trouble you could do it but it would be damned expensive. From the discussion I had with Andrew that remains true. Except the cost of helium that Andrew mentioned was $600 per.cylinder not $500 as I had said. I wasn't wrong about anything. I rarely reply to the list and many of those details seem to have been conveniently left out of the discussion. As for JJ, I do not believe I said anything derogatory about him. If I did it was unintentional. However, I'm not willing to take that for granted. I consider JJ to be a great contributor to the sport, he conducts himself in a professional manner, and represents the sport well to others. I apologize.
