The statistic you quoted is wrong (or ought to be): 90% of tech divers in 
the U.S. do *not* use Poseidon regulators, and those of us who did at one 
time (mea culpa) have gotten rid of them because they have significant 
flaws.  The Cyklon uses an extremely high intermediate pressure (181 psi) 
which increases the risk of hose and seat failures and even so it still 
doesn't perform that well. The Odin tends to free flow in current or when 
scootering and can fail closed (i.e. no air) because of its design.  Both 
are expensive to maintain, don't stay in tune, and use non-standard hoses.

If you check the techdiver and cavers archives at www.aquanaut.com, 
you'll find many discussions of the optimal regulators for technical 
diving. Scubapro and Apeks regulators, particularly the Scubapro 
Mk20/G-250 and Apeks T50, are the most frequently recommended.  I use 
both and find them for the most part interchangeable in performance. For 
your purposes, however, the right answer seems to be use the highest 
performing regulators that you can reliably get parts for in the Canary 
Islands.
