You know, Jason ,I get so sick of smartmouth little punks like you who know absolutely nothing criticizing me. First, you have no clue what you are talking about and have put no cohesive thought or experience into it, and second you have not bothered to read what I wrote before criticizing me from your platform of resentment. The reasons (S) that the backup reg is attached around the neck start with the fact that this is your backup and MUST be where it is supposed to be without question. It can not be allowed to fall loose or get blown back in a current or on a scooter. But you would not know about any of that. The backup reg is also tight up under the neck for other reasons. It prevents freeflow if it is higher up out of the flow - the reg is upside down so is already at a pressure advantage for freeflow. The other reason is that if you feel lousy, like a tox might be coming on, the strap is put up around the head and should be just such a length and tightness as to hold the reg firmly in the mouth no matter what. This technique can also be used when diving into an extreme flow situation , as in a restriction where the water is being jetted through a small space. The only way to accomplish any of this is for the reg to be "hard wired" to the loop. I realize that you want to find fault with everything I do, but you go get my experience and knowledge base and then come on back and give it a try. Finally, big time diver that your are , when you get your pussy ass out away from mama some time and do a real dive, you will find this out: when you get stuck or are in a tight spot and you need to go to backup or share gas, you need to be able to get to that reg by merely bending your neck forward and picking it up with your teeth. That fucking reg better be there. Again , Jason , I know what I am talking about, and you do not. I did not repeat the embarrassingly stupid slop you pumped out to prevent confusion. Anything that stupid needs to be in a email with only your name on it. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
