AL80s are always the correct bottle for bottom gas stages whether in caves or in ocean. Don't confuse deco bottles with stages. Obviously if you only have 20 minutes of deco then an AL80 is unnecessary and I'm sure George would be the first to agree. And, by the way, AL80 stages of bottom gas work perfectly on wreck dives. On my small boat I don't have space to carry a complete helium fill station for overnight trips to the more remote wrecks that we dive. And I don't own 3 sets of doubles. So we have taken to following George's advice of diving trimix stages (AL80s) and preserving the bottom gas in the doubles until the last dive of the trip. Works great and ends up being a FAR FAR more efficient use of helium which is important when it costs $250 per cylinder like it does up here in SE Alaska. The amount of trimix that I end up having to dump is down to almost nothing. Since most NE wreckers have turned their back on techdiver due to GI tactics, the only source of information they can get without being pounded "WKPP wanna bees" is this site or others who are doing nothing more than sniffing GI butt with this same copied info. Stages should be aluminum 80's. Right off the bat they can see that GI is off his rocker, he has already told everyone not to change any of his system, they already know that it is much easier to carry a 45 steel stage than an eighty on a wreck dive. Alum 40's are better for wreck dives, easier to manage, but he does not say that in this on the site ------=_NextPart_000_0012_01C00693.555F6C10 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.3018.900" name=3DGENERATOR></HEAD> <BODY> <DIV><FONT face=3D"Comic Sans MS" size=3D2><SPAN=20 class=3D121491916-15082000>JT:</SPAN></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3D"Comic Sans MS" size=3D2><SPAN=20 class=3D121491916-15082000></SPAN></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3D"Comic Sans MS" size=3D2><SPAN = class=3D121491916-15082000>You are=20 citing a cave diving site and I'm quite certain this discussion is = about=20 carrying stages of BOTTOM GAS to extend penetration, not deco. = AL80s are=20 always the correct bottle for bottom gas stages whether in caves or in=20 ocean.
