Gary's book is not the only source of my information, I also have read=20
Robert D. Ballards' book on the "Lusitania" he refers to "Gregg Bemis" in=
=20
it. There are also web sites about "Gregg Bemis".

I also entertained the idea of diving the "Lusitania" and did some checking=
=20
with Peter Hess who handled the case here in Norfolk, Virginia USA for Gary=
=20
against Bemis , Below is what he told me.

  JT
To dive the LUSEY requires no payment to Bemis, but it is now an Irish
"Heritage Zone" for which a permit is required. No artifacts may be
(legally) recovered.Peter Hess

I also asked him about the "Fitz" which I am considering diving, but=20
getting a solid answer from anyone on if it is protected is hard to get. I=
=20
have checked with several locals and they say it is protected, but cannot=20
produce any facts to prove it. Maybe someone one this list has something=20
other than hear say. I do not want to take anything from these wrecks=20
except the "memory" of diving them. It would be very foolish thinking about=
=20
recovering something from past 500ft on scuba.

JT
The Fitz is in Canadian waters. Although some of the relatives of her crew
don't want the wreck dived, there is no legal prohibition against access=
 that
I am aware of. I have an attorney colleague in Ontario, Steve Yormak, who
might be better able to answer you (I have copied him on these EMails).
Good luck o brass-balled one,

I later was invited to join an expedition to the "Lustitania" , the person=
=20
heading the trip was told by "Gregg Bemis" that there would be a FEE to=20
dive the wreck.

I'm not to sure how the expedition was finally canceled, but info was=20
told to me that the trip leader was unable to get the permit from "Kevin=20
Gurr". But this part could be wrong. The trip leader is on this list so he=
=20
will either post I'm wrong or email me in private and I will correct that=20
part. No answer on his part means it's true.

All these people who claim to own and control these wrecks do so for MONEY=
=20
or power. The "Monitor" here is no better, controlled by those whos' real=20
job is not protecting the wreck, but are really protecting their job by=20
having control. Meaning if they did not have control, then they could not=20
justify their paycheck.

I guess this stuff should get something going on here other Mr. Blacks'=
 crap.
