Zyban is the same drug as the antidepressant Welbutrin (bupropion hydrochloride). This drug acts on the central nervous system (brain) directly. It alters the uptake and release of the neurotransmitters seratonin and dopamine....it changes the proportions/concentrations of these two chemicals in a poorly understood mechanism. The change in the ratios takes about a week to reach an equilibrium and the desired behavioral changes manifest themselves as the new "set point" is obtained. During the transition onto or off the medication side effects (such as insomnia, mood swings) can occur. So during the initial one or two weeks I would avoid diving....and during the two weeks after stopping the medication. But even this is no guarantee, since no studies of the effects of diving on this medication have been done of which I am aware. It is the approach I would take if I were going to dive while taking the medication with the knowledge that I would still be participating in an unofficial "field study".
