Based on the number of replies I received from this post there is not a 1:1 mapping between melted lead and the final product. Usually bolt holes are drilled, access trimmed, slag skimmed off, a little lead is waisted or hardens before it is fully used, which account for a slight weight descrepancy. No I realize not 50%, but, some people feel that there can be as much as a 2 lbs difference from melted state to V weight. Overall most people seemed to agree with melting 1 lbs extra to get the most accurate P/V weights. And for the record I know lead does not evaporate. Next time I post I will ensure my words are more clear. Paul -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
