Understood. Fishing boats have a crew that's like liquid. Here one day, gone the next. Plus, if the Coasties catch anyone with dope, the owner could lose the boat. I have pissed about 30 times in the last 5 to 7 years. I think its enough. A work force like ours is pretty stationery, and I don't see any reason for continued harassment and humiliation on the scale we deal with it, its simply runaway paranoia. Also, the test's we have to take are to DOT standards, and they cost about $150.00 a piece. When working up on the slope, all your bags and personal stuff are x rayed before you get through the terminal. Most of the guys I worked with up there don't and wouldn't use, let alone on the job. This is a *little* different work force than a fishing boat. I understand very well how bad the drug problem is. I build guns and work on guns for cops now days. Its a growth industry, with no horizon in sight. The cops I know and talk to are split about 60-40 in favor of legalizing drugs and taxing them. Make it like alcohol; You give it to kids, jail. You drive under the influence, jail. You manufacture it illegally, jail. Anyone gets hurt by you or your dope, jail. One of them said "If cocaine was legal, you wouldn't be able to buy any of it in about a month, because there would be no money in it. No one would be making millions smuggling it in, no one would be getting killed over it, and the drug lords in Columbia would have to get their money elsewhere." Junkies are going to be junkies, no matter what. How about some of you guys in Europe? I understand in Amsterdam they have a central park for the junkies to congregate, and the "Good Humor" man rolls by twice a day and gives them clean syringes, already loaded. Its cheaper for the society, as they don't have the spread of aids, no OD's, no crime to score dope, no one getting killed over dope, and the junkies are all right where they can be watched. Something has got to be better than what we are doing now, because what we are doing now isn't working. Its simply filling prisons up with sick people, and drug use is at an all time high (pun intended).
