I'm uncircumcised and some what looseskinned. Plus I have 1-2 hours drive to the dive site. SOOooo, I had two options- indwelling cath (ouch) and diapers. I discovered one more- it's called a Maguire urinal. Rubber sheath, which snaps to a suspensory to help hold it in place. It has an inner sheath that you trim for size. Much more comfy, reuseable, no adhesive to stick or give way at the wrong time. Check with a chemist's or invalid supply. hope this helped dive safe and dry Brock ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Burke To: Fabricio Rosas Tariki ; wgrogan@dc*.ne* ; dmdalton ; Aquanaut Techdiver ; Trey ; Paul Wright Sent: Sunday, June 11, 2000 3:04 AM Subject: Re: P-valves The recent thread on the subject inspired me to go out and get myself one. The mix diving we do here in NE Scotland doesn't have the run times of some of the tropical or warm cave stuff, our run times are typically 60 to 90 minutes, but most of our diving is RIB based (that's Rigid Hull Inflatable to those who haven't used them). This involves long trips out to the dive site with drysuit on so I can spend up to 4 or 5 hours a day with my drysuit on. Getting in and out of the suit for a P in a tossing boat is a pain in the arse, I also have to stop hydrating an hour or so before the dive to save accidents and can't hydrate on deco stops. A P-valve would make things alot easier. The thread was on the EE so I got one of those. First try yesterday - absolute disaster, despite changing the catheter after the first failure. Three P's, all down the left leg. One very wet left leg. Any suggestions as to how I can rig the catheter and tube assembly so that it doesn't slide off on the way out to the dive site. No jokes about the size of the catheter, it fits perfectly, in fact it is a bit tight. Also, any suggestions as to where I can source the catheter's in the UK. I foolishly thought that they were reusable so I only got a few from EE. Cheers Jim The diving we do here in NE Scotland ----- Original Message ----- From: Fabricio Rosas Tariki To: wgrogan@dc*.ne* ; dmdalton ; Aquanaut Techdiver ; Trey ; Paul Wright Sent: 09 June 2000 19:44 Subject: Re: P-valves Thanks for all the replies. This list is VERY valuable information source, even with guys like Blackmd trying so hard.... As Paul had mentioned, my concern is to remove any substrate (aka. piss residues) that could support bacteria grown (as in a culture media), not disinfect the piss. Sorry, I didn't express myself correctly. Best regards, Fabricio -----Mensagem original----- De: Paul Wright <paul@ca*.co*.uk*> Para: wgrogan@dc*.ne* <wgrogan@dc*.ne*>; dmdalton <dmdalton@qu*.ne*>; Fabricio Rosas Tariki <frtariki@or*.co*.br*>; Aquanaut Techdiver <techdiver@aquanaut.com> Data: Sexta-feira, 9 de Junho de 2000 13:22 Assunto: Re: P-valves I agree about the powdery residue issue but in general the solution need be only fairly weak rather than saturated so that residue from evaporation will be minimal, also, being easily dissolved the residue should go back into solution as soon as you use the catheter again. There are drawbacks to many things. As for urine being sterile and an antiseptic, it is true up to a point (no pun intended) however, it is also a rich source of nutrients so that bacteria grow in urine from outside contamination very quickly. The ideal ecologically sound solution would be to urinate through the catheter then within an hour or so rinse with fresh water, no extra contaminants into the environment in that case. It just dawned on me that this is a group of adults delighting in talking about having a pee..........makes a change from football I suppose. ------=_NextPart_000_0027_01BFD382.116368C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3Dtext/html;charset=3Diso-8859-1 = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2014.210" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2> Jim:</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2> Had the same problem here.
