Nail funguses are notorious for being incredibly resistent to treatment, and hard to erradicate - maybe that's why your doctor went for the heavy guns first. It's always worth checking back with the doctor when you get a crazy price, in case they can suggest a cheaper alternative to try first - I'm always amazed how often doctors are completely unaware of the price of what they are prescribing. In the non-prescription, alternative medicine world, Tea Tree Oil has a great reputation for curing nail funguses that prescription medicines can't.
