I said the "displacment and resulting buoyancy" - that is to say, the positive buoyancy component resulting from the object's displacement. This will remain the same regardless of the negative component - weight. My impression was that the original poster had fallen into the trap of thinking the positive component was the result of air in the canister, rather than an inescapable result of its displacement, and was hoping there might be some magic way to eliminate the air without adding to the weight.
