Dear Jos, I have carried a portable filter which goes into the din of my cylinder, and the creates another din at the entry end of the filter. An in line filter. Because all my regs and cylinders are O2 clean, viz "in O2 service". My unit is about 30 cm long and about 5cm diameter. I only use it on a casual basis and only with some tanks, when I am away. My tanks, valves, and regs are O2 cleaned very often. The filter has three wads, and both types of filtering medium Hope this helps. I am not that confident with it, so I stick to O2 clean fill stations. In reality, I blend my own gas at the dive shop. Sorry for the long answer.
