Haas this professor written up & submitted his research? Do you have the =
citation for it, by any chance?

If not, can you remember his first name, and what institution he's =
affiliated with?

Thanks,

Rich L

  Subject: antioxidants

Had some problem with first post, here's a repeat.
  =20
Have recently attended a presentation on the above by a
Prof Halliwell. I would like to run it and related queries,=20
by the list for opinions. Superoxide anion damage to DNA
was tracked by tracing 8OH deoxy Guanine, in urine.
  =20
1 Subjects were given a commercially available antioxidant,
8OH dG was found in increased levels and study terminated
  at 2 weeks.
  =20
2 Same set of subjects were given 500gm of raw tomatoes,
  {once a day} 8OH dG levels decreased and leveled off. Study =
terminated.
  =20
3 When asked, he said that persons exposed to hyperbaric
oxygen showed an initial increase in degradative products, but levels
gradually decreased to pre-exposure levels. Time line not
  mentioned.
  =20
  Aside, my questions are:-
  =20
Commercially available preparations of SOD, Catalase and
Glutathione Peroxidase don't make it the cellular level because
of protease action and stomach pH, and are therefore not worth
  crap?
  =20
If I'm planning preventive anti-ox therapy of vit E, C, Selenium etc
do I plan according to Ox Tox % per dive day or cumulative ox tox
per dive mission, or should I just go mega dose or saturation?
  =20
Any feedback on pine bark extract?
  =20
  Omar
