Subject: RE: Q about 02 fill whip experience
"There are no stupid questions, just stupid people=2E" Mr=2E Garrison, =20
Southpark=2E

Seriously, I did the IANTD Gas Blender course many years ago=2E It was a =20
six hour thing and although I learned the basics there was still an awful =20=
=20
lot left unanswered=2E Simple things like where to actually buy gas from=2E

Anyhow, as I recall, one thing that was barely touched on was gas =20
quality=2E There are two grades of air: "clean" and "oily", simple enough=2E=
  =20
It is just natural to assume (industrially supplied) breathing gases are =20
"clean" and, for example, welding gases are "oily" and that contamination =20=
=20
of delivery equipment will occur if you use the same hoses, fittings, =20
etc=2E In most cases the differences between grades and gases comes from =20
the number of purges/evacs of the storage bottle done by the supplier=2E =20
Hydrocarbon content rarely comes into it=2E Welding argon is no more likely=
  =20
to be "oily" than diving grade helium, especially as many suppliers use =20
one-way valves=2E This, on my course at least, was never made clear and we=20=
 =20
learned the hard way=2E

With the collective unconcious of the internet, which we never had back =20
then, things should be better=2E Personally, ask a question in the right =20
spirit and it will get answered in the same way (and it does cut both =20
ways)=2E

IMHO, I don't think there is such a thing as a "stupid" question=2E

If you don't want to answer, just ignore the question rather than =20
slamming
him=2E He asked because he doesn't know and wanted to learn=2E I am sure yo=
u
didn't know the answer to this question at one time in your life=2E And I =20=
=20
am
sure you asked someone=2E And if this person told you that you ask "stupid"
question, I am sure you still don't know the answer :-)
