IMHO, I don't think there is such a thing as a "stupid" question.

If you don't want to answer, just ignore the question rather than slamming
him. He asked because he doesn't know and wanted to learn. I am sure you
didn't know the answer to this question at one time in your life. And I am
sure you asked someone. And if this person told you that you ask "stupid"
question, I am sure you still don't know the answer :-)
