Hmm... guess some clarification is in order here. (Sorry for the lack of
clarity... message was composed rather late at night after a bad online
gaming experience!)

That's the math part of it all that you can get from a book. Most EAN
Blender classes don't do much in the area of actual filling (what happens
when part of the fill is done too fast, what happens if you're a 50 psi off
in one area or another, etc...) and almost nothing in regards to fill system
design.

Certainly not. What I meant was that if someone has taken only the Adv. EAN
class and the Blender class, they missed a HUGE amount of info by not "being
sold" a book that I found quite valuable.... Mix is certainly the way to go,
the Tech EAN book just has some good blending info in it.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The sad thing is, your questions about what is being taught
out there are very well founded, and our fears about what people are
teaching are very real ones. Someone who's mixing gas is often called upon
to maintain fill systems, O2 service gear, etc... and most of this (along
with much actual "turning of knobs") is left out of any blending or Adv. EAN
class I've ever seen taught.

I've also received some questions about wether or not I'd let Cobb, GI, or
some others (presumably without mix or blender certs) mix my gas. Honestly,
yeah.... but I'd sure supervise at least the first few times until I was
sure they knew what they were doing. Personal knowledge of someone is a
whole different conversation than strangers flashing c-cards in a dive shop.
I was speaking from my experience which has to do with working in a busy
shop environment.

Does this clear things up a bit? See what happens when I have to write
clearly and coherently? Things just get so darn long winded! *GRIN*

ps: Jim, did you get the checklist and gas worksheet okay?
