I have a set of pst 95 and a set of scubapro fabers, both have bare metal finishes and while the scuba pro tansk are first dated 1984, they look the same on the outside as the psts made in 95.The scuba pro also has funny buoyancy , these are the floaty tanks i was talking about two weeks ago.< or was that on quest?> I bought the psts and the fabers second hand. I also have luxfer al 80's which are painted and the paint is coming off slowly, they are a mess and for that reason alone i would avoid any painted tank in the future, i will never get all the paint chips off the garage floor. I see lloyd bailey has some pst stock and jda also, the last time i checked they were distribued by us diver which becaue aqualung, which became seaquest?? you cant buy the pst cylinder w/o the valves from a usd/whatever dealer, regular valve or you have to buy a single post non iso manifold, and if your going to do that then why not assemble indepentants or double 80s with a 40 year old suicide bar? Also remember if your doubling up, tolerances as to cylinder height do matter, this is an issue with dual iso manifolds, i bought the psts one at a time from two different sources, and one tank is longer that the other, just a little. I would also say this, dbl 80s are better in the ocean, i put an old sherwood mani on a pair last year to see if GIII was really right about that too, and wouldnt you know it, the sonofabitch was right. Feels like nothing compared to psts or hps, or steel anything, tls w/c4,8 lb belt and aul14,ss plate, you can fly and if you stay above 600 psig; youll never have a problem with buoyancy or you dont have the skill for any doubles, imho. If you re going to do ow dives w/ doubles to gain familiarity id suggest putting a manifold on a couple of al 80's, espically if you have the 80's, youll be able to switch manifolds if you go steel later on. And i have seen horribly rusted oms tanks, with the perpetual repair job in progress, and I know this: id never buy one of those used, period. regards, Al Marvelli armantrout@at*.ne* wrote: > ah, but it doesn't say hot dip galvanize, now does it? > > Therein lies the problem. > > Jess > > From OMS website, http://www.omsdive.com/ > > > > Galvanize, Epoxy Primer, & Poly Urethane > > > > Whatever that means..... > > > > Scott > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Jesse Armantrout" <armantrout@wo*.at*.ne*> > > To: "Scott" <scottk@hc*.co*>; <armantrout@at*.ne*> > > Cc: <techdiver@aquanaut.com> > > Sent: Friday, March 17, 2000 9:09 AM > > Subject: Re: OMS vs. PST > > > > > > > no, OMS is definitely not hot dip galv.
